Nevion, a Sony Group company, announced two additions to its broadcast control and media processing lineup ahead of the 2026 NAB Show: a Panel Builder tool for its VideoIPath orchestration platform and MOXELA, a software-based media processing platform designed to run on commercial off-the-shelf servers or in the cloud.

Both products will be displayed at Sony’s booth C8401 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, 2026.

Panel Builder handles hardware panel configuration inside VideoIPath

The Panel Builder tool allows users to design, configure and manage hardware control panel layouts within VideoIPath without requiring the physical devices during setup. The software provides a visual representation of supported panels and uses drag-and-drop assignment for actions including endpoint switching, connect and disconnect commands, profile and parameter settings and multi-page navigation.

The tool supports stacked panel configurations, in which multiple hardware panels operate as a single unit. At launch, Panel Builder works with the Sony MKS-R4020 and the Elgato StreamDeck Studio, with additional panels to be added.

Because the control logic resides in VideoIPath rather than on the panel hardware, layouts can be built offline, replicated across locations and transferred to replacement panels without reconfiguration. Nevion said the architecture allows the system to support functionality beyond what individual panels can deliver on their own.

“The new Panel Builder represents a major step forward in making broadcast control more intuitive, powerful and flexible,” said Arne-Johan Martinsen, product director for VideoIPath at Nevion. “This is all part of our commitment to continuously evolve VideoIPath to meet the needs of modern IP-based production.”

The latest VideoIPath release also adds integrations with Riedel intercom systems, Arista MCS and Sony CNA-2 camera control, along with a tag dictionary for applying structured labels to endpoints and various system improvements.

MOXELA targets software-based media processing

MOXELA is a software platform for transporting, processing and monitoring live video, audio and data. The platform runs on commercial off-the-shelf servers or in cloud environments and consists of media functions that can be combined to create low-latency applications for broadcast facilities, contribution networks, remote production and cloud production.

The platform supports SMPTE ST 2110 and NDI, along with the Media Exchange Layer, a specification backed by the Linux Foundation, the European Broadcasting Union and the North American Broadcasters Association. MXL is designed to standardize real-time, in-memory exchange of uncompressed audio, video and metadata between software applications.

MOXELA is integrated with VideoIPath for orchestration, control and monitoring across both Sony and third-party equipment on-premises and in the cloud. The platform uses a cloud-native architecture with containerized deployment, and Nevion said it follows industry guidelines including the EBU’s Digital Media Facility framework.

“Nevion has been delivering software-defined media systems for over a decade and has developed an exceptional expertise in that period,” said Jan Helgesen, head of product and solution at Nevion. “The new MOXELA software platform is the logical evolution of our offering, and its timing aligns strategically with the development of common frameworks for the broadcast industry, which is very important for our customers.”

At the NAB Show, Sony and Nevion plan to demonstrate software-defined media operations using MOXELA and the M2L-X software switcher, running both in the cloud and on-premises and using MXL.
