CNN will host a two-hour Maine Democratic Senate debate Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET in partnership with the Bangor Daily News.
The debate follows Democratic nominee Graham Platner’s withdrawal from the race and comes two days before the Maine Democratic Party convention, where 601 delegates are expected to select a replacement Senate nominee.
CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate alongside Michael Shepherd, political editor of the Bangor Daily News. Candidates will answer questions from the moderators and a live audience that will include party delegates participating in the nomination vote.
“A CNN Special Event: Maine Democratic Senate Debate” will air live on CNN and CNN International. It will also stream for eligible CNN streaming and pay-TV subscribers through CNN.com and CNN’s connected TV and mobile apps.
The debate will be available on demand beginning Friday, July 24, through CNN’s digital platforms and participating cable operators.
