Carson Daly is expanding his role at NBC News, joining “Saturday Today” as co-anchor while continuing his weekday duties on the network’s morning program.
Daly will make his debut Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett, feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman.
The appointment adds a sixth day to Daly’s weekly schedule at “Today,” where he has been a regular presence since 2013.
“Carson has been an integral part of the ‘Today’ amily for the past 13 years, and we are thrilled that our viewers get to spend one more day of the week with him,” said Libby Leist, executive vice president of “Today” and lifestyle, in a statement. “Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of ‘Saturday Today.'”
Daly joined “Today” in 2013 as host of the Orange Room, a space dedicated to social media and digital audience engagement. His responsibilities have since expanded to include the program’s “Pop Start” entertainment news segment, celebrity interviews and reporting on subjects ranging from sports and politics to health and mental health awareness.
He also serves on the board of directors of Project Healthy Minds, a nonprofit organization focused on mental health.
Despite his expanded responsibilities at NBC News, Daly will continue hosting and executive producing NBC’s singing competition “The Voice,” a position he has held since the show’s premiere in 2011.
He is also an executive producer of “The Voice: Celebrity,” a new addition to the franchise.
Daly’s television career includes nearly two decades in late-night programming. He hosted NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly” for 18 seasons before the series ended in 2019 after approximately 2,000 episodes.
The program became known for its documentary-style interviews and featured guests including Robin Williams, Elton John, Angelina Jolie, Dave Chappelle and Alicia Keys.
Before joining NBC, Daly was a prominent figure at MTV, where he co-created, hosted and executive produced “Total Request Live,” commonly known as “TRL.”
The music video countdown and interview program became a major platform for recording artists in the late 1990s and 2000s, featuring appearances by Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Christina Aguilera.
Daly addressed his additional weekend responsibilities with a joke about how the new schedule might affect his family.
“I’m thrilled to add ‘Saturday Today’ to my weekday morning schedule. My kids asked if I’ll still make pancakes. I told them yes, but I’ll be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead,” Daly said in the statement. “I’m equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity.”
Matt Carluccio serves as executive producer of the weekend editions of “Today,” which air Saturday and Sunday mornings on NBC.
