Dallas CW affiliate makes surprise switch to HD
Tribune-owned KDAF-TV made an unannounced switch to HD news over the weekend, becoming the last station in the market to make the transition.
Despite being last out of the gate, KDAF-TV has one unique selling point — its field footage is acquired and aired in HD, unlike other stations that use mostly SD 16:9 video.
The move, however, is accompanied by a continued decline in content, says Dallas blogger Ed Bark. The newscasts are filled with rather bizarre, sex-fueled stories, according to Bark’s overview of Monday’s broadcast, including airing tape from a former Dallas reporter reacting to a “G-shot” story. The tape shows reporter Michael Hill (no relation to the author of this post) who now works at WGNO-TV in New Orleans.

Massive morning show CONSPIRACY
A user by the name of “Lim” has been commenting on this for the past week, and now TVNewser has picked it up.
This user, and maybe others, believe a vast conspiracy is underway by “Good Morning America” to copy the graphics used by CBS’s “The Early Show” in 2008.
As Alex Weprin of TVNewser noted, “THEY BOTH USE THE COLORS BLUE AND YELLOW. DON’T YOU SEE???”
What are your thoughts? Did ABC draw inspiration from the package?
Inside WNET-TV/WLIW-TV’s new street side home

TVNewsCheck.com gives the inside story on the new PBS studio in the heart of New York City:
Seth Easter, who designed the facility along with a + i Design, says his marching orders were clear: “It’s public television and they wanted to be seen by the public.”
After a year of planning and construction, WNET.org or Channel 13 as it is more commonly known around town, produced its first regularly scheduled program just last Friday, an installment of the nationally distributed Need to Know with co-anchors Alison Stewart and Jon Meacham
The facility is in the same building as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and the studio designers were able to visually integrate the two venues by framing the glass of the studio’s façade with the same reddish muirapiranaga wood as the concert hall.t was originally intended to be a book store, not a state-of-the-art TV production studio, says Easter. “When you’re looking for studio space, the thing you want is a live, open area with high ceilings, lots of power, lots of air conditioning and some sort of back-of-the-house space for everything that you need to keep the shows running.”
