NBC Olympics sets blend Paris views with scenery to bring ‘je ne sais quoi’ to on-air look

NBC Olympics and HD Studio collaborated to create five unique studios for the network’s coverage. The studios were strategically located to showcase iconic views of the Paris skyline, particularly the Eiffel Tower.

The studio’s design blended French flair and modern aesthetics, incorporating elements like faux scenic walls, movable furniture and large video screens. The design approach varied across locations, from open and airy setups at Cafe de l’Homme to more enclosed, upscale designs at the Balcon des Sciences. Despite challenges, the team successfully delivered visually striking environments under tight time constraints.

The studios included: 

• One studio at the International Broadcast Center that was set up at the Le Bourget Exhibition Centre northwest of downtown Paris
• One studio in the TV tower overlooking the Trocadéro
• One studio at the Balcon des Sciences, Musée de l’Homme (the “Balcony of Sciences” inside the “Museum of the Humanities”)
• Two studios at Cafe de l’Homme, Studio A on the east side and Studio B on the west
