In a sign of the growing importance of apps in the television news industry, Fox Television Stations has named a new VP in charge of nothing but apps.
Jose Rios, currently a vice president and news director at the network’s Los Angeles O&O, will start in the new role June 1.
Rios’ duties will include coordinating all digital news applications for FTS, including mobile applications. In addition, he will work with the stations to develop news talent and indentify social media opportunities,” the company said in a statement.
The new position reports directly to Fox Television Stations CEO Jack Abernethy.
