Viewer interacts with newscast using giant zucchini

Now there’s a headline we never thought we’d write. As reported earlier, KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo., debuted a new, interactive “hybrid” newscast.

During the show, anchor Sarah Hill mentioned that “interactive” doesn’t necessarily mean high-tech and said viewers could even write their comments on a napkin and send it in to the station.

Although that comment may have been somewhat tongue-in-cheek, one viewer took it a step farther by bringing a giant zucchini to the station with a note attached promoting a local event.

Hill read the note on air and showed off the giant veggie in the newscast’s closing segment.
