Miami station debuts lifestyle show with virtual set, hip graphics

WTVJ-TV, the NBC O&O in Miami, recently debuted “6 in the Mix,” a lifestyle and entertainment program airing at 10:30 a.m.

The new show makes use of a chroma keyed virtual set, something the station has made use of for other segments and shows as well, including its traffic reporting and 9 p.m. newscast on Miami Nonstop.

The virtual set for “6 in the Mix” features a photograph of a contemporary living and dining room. In front of this are semi-transparent red columns and a red header element.

Those red tones continue in the show’s graphics package, which draws inspiration from the extruded NBC peacock elements similar to those found in WNBC-TV’s new graphics. The show’s lower thirds add an orange-toned background element as well.

“6 in the Mix” uses the 3D peacock as a sort of “stage” for the show’s logo in the opening sequence — an appropriate metaphor given the show’s entertainment and lifestyle focus.
