Spectrum News is expanding its California journalism efforts with “More On That,” a new digital-first series built around longer-form reporting and on-the-ground storytelling.
The series launches Sept. 14, 2026, with stories posting regularly to the Spectrum News California YouTube channel. A companion weekly television program will debut Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at 8 p.m. on Spectrum News networks across California, recapping coverage from the previous week.
“More On That” is designed to give reporters more time and flexibility than a traditional television news format typically allows, with stories focused on subjects including housing, health care, technology, agriculture and climate change.
“California’s biggest stories rarely have simple explanations, and that is exactly the gap ‘More On That’ is designed to fill,” said Seth Katz, senior director of production for Spectrum Networks, in a statement. “Being digital-first allows us to reach more viewers while giving a glimpse of the type of reporting that can be found on Spectrum News every day, providing real context on the issues affecting the lives of Californians.”
The series will emphasize visual journalism and longer-form reporting intended to connect broader issues with their impact on individual communities. Spectrum said planned stories range from the challenges facing seniors dealing with extreme desert heat on limited budgets to efforts to stop agricultural pests that could threaten California’s wine industry.
Katz leads a team of multimedia journalists positioned across the state.
Brent Cannon will report from Fresno, California; Mary Strong from Palm Springs, California; Muna Sadek from Sacramento, California; and Raquel Maria Dillon and Jack Molmud from San Francisco, California. Spectrum News said additional journalists will be based in Los Angeles, California; San Diego, California; and San Luis Obispo, California.
Emmy Award-winning journalist and producer Lisa Ling will also contribute stories to the series.
The launch reflects Spectrum News’ continued investment in distributing local journalism outside its traditional cable channels. The company has expanded into streaming with Spectrum News+, launched Spanish-language Spectrum Noticias and developed connected TV and mobile apps.
Spectrum said its mobile news app has surpassed 6.5 million downloads.
In California, Spectrum News is available to Spectrum TV customers on Channel 1 and through the Spectrum TV app. Its programming can also be viewed on mobile devices, Xumo Stream Box, Apple TV and Roku.
