Media General’s WNCN-TV debuted a new set last week, designed by FX Design Group.
“This is an investment that allows our team to provide our customers with an even higher level of service,” said Andrea Parquet-Taylor of WNCN-TV. “Our mission is to be community champions who empower smarter thinking and this is simply another tool to help us achieve that.”
The set was “inspired by some of North Carolina’s natural features” and incorporates many technology-driven elements.
Stonework and backlit panels frame the set, with wood touches added throughout. The purple palette is an interesting choice, compared to the stations former blue look, but the white backlit elements complement it well.
The largest change is seen in the weather center, which is larger than the previous with “enhanced monitoring capability.”
The set represents a new direction for FX Design Group in terms of desk design, but the main anchor background’s simple wash of color leaves something to be desired.
