CNN is using Facebook Live to bring holiday cheer into your home (or office) with a yule log stream.
Though the log doesn’t appear to be an actual live feed from, say, Jeff Zucker’s living room, the on-screen fire is accompanied by a rather over-the-top jazzy version of holiday music.
So far, the stream is attracting a viewership that hovers around 2,000 to 3,000. Viewer feedback ranges from simple holiday greetings to viewers debating the use of “Merry Christmas” vs. “Happy Holidays.” Others are requesting the stream to be broadcast on CNN’s main feed in place of the news.
Facebook user Steve Billetta, however, summed up the feed beautifully, however: “2,000 plus people, me included, are so bored, we’re watching a fake fire on a cell phone or computer monitor.”
Another media outlet, BuzzFeed, is using Facebook Live to stream a live countdown to the 2020 elections.
