Outsight previews micro LED light for on the go video work

Outsight will showcase its newest LED light during the 2017 NAB Show, dubbed the Creamsource Micro. The unit, which will ship in May, is a highly portable LED light for video work that can be mounted atop a camera.

“The Micro is a great addition to the Creamsource range, with all the advanced LED technology of the larger units in a small package,” said Tama Berkeljon of Outsight. “It’s powerful but it can squeeze into small spaces, it is incredibly quick to rig and derig, and it takes up very little storage or stowage. Notably, the Micro is our most cost-effective fixture to date, and we are confident that due to the fixture’s punch, form factor and aggressive pricing, it will quickly become an invaluable part of any lighting set-up.”

The Creamsource Micro is less than half the size of the Creamsource Mini+, with dimensions (without yoke) of 220 x 205 x 100mm (W x H x D), and weighs in at approximately 2.5kg.

It features a rugged and waterproof design, with an IP65 rating which means it can be used in all weather. Light output is the same quality as the rest of the Creamsource range, with color temperature adjustable from 2700 to 6500K and a CRI/TLCI of greater than 90.

Drawing only 80W, it rivals the light output and punch typical of some 200W HMI Luminaires. Unlike most bi-color fixtures, the Micro maintains constant power output across the whole CCT range, so users always get the unit’s full potential, and there is no reason to have to choose between a bi-color or daylight system.

There are three main different rigging options: Quick release Yoke, Kino Flo Style Twist-on Mount, or single 3/8th Thread.

The Micro is priced at USD $995 for the basic kit, which includes: the Creamsource Micro Bender head, power supply and 3/8” Baby mounting socket. Other kits are available.
