Networks blow in with big Harvey coverage on evening newscasts

The broadcast networks served up extensive coverage of Hurricane Harvey on Thursday, which continued into Friday morning.

‘NBC Nightly News’

NBC Nightly News” kicked off its coverage using Studio 3A’s large video “tower” showing a dramatic radar loop and stylized satellite imagery with the words “Major Hurricane” in a red banner below.

At the top of the broadcast, the camera pushed in to use the panel as an OTS element.

Additional hurricane imagery was fed to the various video panels camera left as well as the three video wall alcove on the right.

Anchor Lester Holt was then joined in-studio by Dylan Dryer, who used the video wall as map weather that she could point to.
