For the broadcast’s traditional “in memoriam” segment, designers opted to use an image of the “Imagine” memorial mosaic in Central Park honoring John Lennon, who was killed across the street in front of his home in The Dakota in 1980.

Other prominent elements in the look were bright, bubbly trails of lights, a rotating 3D render of the iconic gramophone trophy, as well as triangular elements in a variety of angles.
