Actor, activist and advocate Mariska Hargitay lit the iconic Empire State Building teal and green April 6, 2024, to bring attention to Sexual Assault Awareness Month in honor of the amazing 20 years of work done by Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation, and to commemorate the landmark 25th anniversary season of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
Hargitay was joined by Robyn Mazur, executive director of the Joyful Heart Foundation along with Abigail Rickards, senior vice president of Marketing, public relations and digital for Empire State Realty Trust, during a ceremony.
The lighting was done in collaboration with Universal Television, Wolf Entertainment, NBC and the Joyful Heart Foundation.
The Joyful Heart Foundation is a leading national organization with a mission to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and support survivors’ healing.
“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is currently airing its 25th season, further cementing the show’s status as the longest-running primetime drama series in U.S. history.
Hargitay stars as Captain Olivia Benson, the longest-running primetime drama character in television history.
