Major League Baseball coverage returned to NBC Sports this week with a two-game Opening Day slate and the launch of new streaming features on Peacock.
The coverage began Thursday, March 26, with a doubleheader airing on NBC and Peacock, followed by the debut of “Sunday Night Baseball” on March 29. The company said the schedule marked the start of its 2026 MLB season coverage.
The Opening Day lineup featured the Pittsburgh Pirates facing the New York Mets in the afternoon, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks against the Los Angeles Dodgers in primetime, the only night game of the day. Both matchups included on-site pregame programming.
“Sunday Night Baseball” opened with the Cleveland Guardians visiting the Seattle Mariners, with coverage airing on Peacock and NBCSN.
Peacock also introduced a dedicated MLB hub, offering access to live games, highlights and team-specific content. Features included “Catch up with Key Plays,” “Live in Browse” and “MLB Live Picks,” a mobile-based predictive game.
The streaming service began its “Game of the Day” offering March 26, providing a nationally available out-of-market game on most days of the season, with local blackout restrictions लागू.
NBC Sports said additional programming would include “Sunday Stretch,” a whip-around show launching May 3, and expanded Spanish-language coverage through partnerships with Telemundo and Universo.
