Net Insight introduces high-density Nimbra 520 for hybrid network environments
Net Insight is launching Nimbra 520, a high-density media processing node, at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas. The device is designed to simplify live media contribution and distribution across both managed and unmanaged networks.
The Nimbra 520 is part of Net Insight’s Nimbra Live execution layer. It is built to provide consistent and deterministic performance in hybrid live media environments. The company highlighted operational simplicity, cost control, and reliable performance as key features of the new device.
The node supports multi-channel HEVC and AVC encoding, which can reduce bandwidth usage by up to 50% compared to legacy workflows. This capability allows users to increase contribution and distribution capacity without expanding their network infrastructure.
The Nimbra 520 works with Net Insight’s Live Intelligence approach, which focuses on delivering measurable performance across real-world networks. It is designed to help operators manage peak events, network failures, congestion, and rapid changes.
When combined with Net Insight’s Nimbra Edge, the device supports a per-stream cost model, centralized orchestration, and automated lifecycle management. These features aim to reduce operational overhead, avoid over-provisioning, and minimize the impact of failures.
The media processing node supports unmanaged internet contribution, hybrid cloud workflows, and fully managed IP networks. In managed environments, it integrates with Net Insight’s platform-based operations. In unmanaged environments, it uses Edge-orchestrated workflows to maintain predictable performance.
Andreas Eriksson, CEO of Net Insight, said, “Live media operations must scale without driving complexity or cost. With Nimbra 520, we extend our Live Intelligence architecture into a simpler, more flexible execution layer, giving customers predictable performance and lower cost per stream.”
The Nimbra 520 supports professional broadcast quality, including UHD workflows, 10-bit video, and low latency. Its high-density design is intended to save bandwidth and infrastructure while maintaining performance across different network types.
Net Insight plans to showcase the Nimbra 520 and its Live Intelligence technology at NAB Show 2026, held April 19-22 in Las Vegas. The company’s booth is W1653.
