Amazon launches slimmer Fire TV Stick HD with Alexa+ integration

Amazon has introduced the Fire TV Stick HD, a smaller streaming device featuring a redesigned user interface and Alexa+ support.

The company said the device is about 30% narrower than the previous generation and can be powered directly through a TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a wall adapter. It is priced at $34.99 in the U.S. and will begin shipping April 29 in more than a dozen countries.

The Fire TV Stick HD includes performance improvements, with Amazon reporting it is more than 30% faster than the prior HD model. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 to improve connectivity and reliability.

The device runs Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV interface, which organizes content into categories such as movies, TV shows, live programming, sports and news. The updated experience is intended to streamline content discovery across apps and services.

For users in the U.S., Canada and the UK, the device includes Alexa+, which enables voice-based content recommendations, smart home controls and contextual information about on-screen programming.

Amazon said the compact design is intended to improve portability, allowing users to connect the device to any compatible TV while traveling. The stick can also be powered via USB-C and a wall adapter if needed.

The company plans to introduce an Adaptive Display feature in the coming months, which will allow users to adjust text and interface elements for improved accessibility.
