Sportway Media Group, an AI-automated sports production company, and Broadcast Solutions, a system integrator for the broadcast media industry, announced the joint acquisition of Studio Automated, an AI technology provider for automated and remote live sports production.

The acquisition aims to develop a scalable platform for live sports production by combining AI technology, software workflows, broadcast hardware, and operational expertise. The partnership intends to support live sports production ranging from grassroots competitions to international events.

Studio Automated provides AI software that operates thousands of cameras across European venues. Its technology supports multicamera live production and remote workflows for sports such as football, ice hockey, basketball, and handball. The platform also supports sustainable live sports production aligned with global environmental targets.

Sportway Media Group manages one of the largest live sports production operations, delivering hundreds of thousands of matches annually across various sports and markets. The company uses its production environments to train and deploy AI-based workflows.

Broadcast Solutions contributes experience in live sports production infrastructure, including outside broadcast vans, remote production setups, and video assistant referee solutions. The company also acquired Egripment B.V., a specialist in camera movement technologies, enhancing the partnership’s access to camera hardware and engineering.

The three companies have collaborated with DMC Production to refine Studio Automated’s AI software in live sports settings. This collaboration has tested the technology in high-pressure production environments.

The acquisition creates an integrated production ecosystem combining AI-driven production, software control, camera systems, infrastructure, and content distribution.

Future developments include real-time event detection from live video feeds to generate instant highlights, clips, and replays during matches. This feature aims to increase fan engagement and provide new content and monetization options for broadcasters and rights holders.
