Vizrt launches AI Keyer to enable virtual without green screens
Vizrt has announced the launch of an AI keying tool that enables virtual scenes and augmented reality graphics without the need for green screens or chromakey cycs.
AI Keyer allows production teams to replace backgrounds and insert AR elements in real time across indoor and outdoor settings, the company said. The system uses AI trained on real-world footage to identify foreground subjects and separate them from backgrounds under varying lighting conditions.
“Creating XR environments typically demands large infrastructure investments and requires specialized skills for daily operations. The Vizrt AI Keyer removes all these constraints, so high-quality virtual scenes and AR graphics become a reality for live productions of every size,” said Edouard Griveaud, senior product manager at Vizrt.
Vizrt said the tool supports a range of use cases, including remote guest integration, virtual set extensions for news, and branded environments for sports and live events.
The company positioned the launch as part of a broader push to expand AI-driven capabilities across its platform, which serves customers in broadcast, sports, enterprise and digital media.
