Noticiero Telemundo Arizona has added Liliana Salgado as a multimedia and investigative reporter.
Her work will appear on both KTAZ in Phoenix, Arizona, and KHRR in Tucson, Arizona, both of which are owned by NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group.
Salgado will also be responsible for leading the station’s Telemundo Investiga, a new investigative unit launched recently.
Most recently, Salgado served as a video journalist at Reuters, where she reported on enterprise and breaking news stories. Before that she reported for Univision Arizona, KTVW in Phoenix, where her reports focused on public safety, immigration, education, housing and government accountability. During her time there, she earned a total of 19 regional Emmy Awards.
“Liliana’s investigative mindset, strong storytelling skills and deep understanding of the issues affecting Arizona’s Hispanic communities make her the right journalist to help launch Telemundo Investiga,” said Noe Gonzalez, vice president of news for Telemundo Arizona, in a statement. “Her commitment to accountability journalism, natural curiosity and ability to connect with our audience — combined with the editorial maturity and technical expertise she brings — make her an outstanding addition to our newsroom.”
Salgado, who is bilingual and a native of Phoenix, started her journalism career at KINC, Univision Nevada in the Las Vegas, Nevada market.
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication, with a minor in Spanish, from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
