Roku has announced a redesigned Home Screen for its streaming devices and Roku TVs, marking the company’s first major update to the interface in more than a decade.
The updated Home Screen introduced personalized recommendations, expanded navigation tools and new content discovery features intended to help users find programming more quickly. Roku said the experience will begin rolling out May 27 to Roku TVs and streaming devices in the United States, with additional countries to follow in the coming months.
The company said the redesign was informed by consumer research and behavioral data focused on streaming habits and content discovery.
“When we set out to rethink the Home Screen, we knew we should listen to the people who use it every day. So we talked to the viewers, we tested extensively, and we pushed until the design and the data lined up for a meaningful update,” Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku, said in a statement.
“Now, our new Home Screen puts entertainment at the center of everything, while staying true to Roku’s simple, intuitive roots. More than 100 million households will feel the difference the moment they turn on their TV—and it opens up a better, more powerful experience for our partners as well,” Wood said.
New features included a “Quick Access” section for frequently used apps, a personalized “Top Picks for You” recommendation row and genre-based destinations such as “For You” and “Subscriptions.”
Additional updates included integrated search tools, a collapsible navigation menu, shortcuts for features such as Save List and Continued Watching, and a “Your Daily Scoop” section highlighting trending programming and cultural topics.
Roku also introduced a Roku City tile that links viewers to an interactive version of the company’s animated screensaver.
The company cited a Roku/Harris Poll conducted in April 2026 that found 82% of streamers said they would like to see the show they want to watch immediately upon turning on their TV.
