Spectrum News has launched Spectrum News Tennessee, expanding its local news network to Spectrum TV customers across the state.
The 24-hour channel is available on Channel 1 and offers local headlines every 15 minutes, along with hyperlocal weather forecasts every 10 minutes “on the 1s.” The network is also available to Spectrum customers through the Spectrum News App, Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV.
“Tennessee is the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and we welcome Spectrum News to our state,” said Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee in a statement released by Charter, the parent of the Spectrum brand. “We appreciate the company’s commitment to keeping communities across Tennessee informed and congratulate Spectrum News on its launch.”
Rebecca Walters has been named executive producer of Spectrum News Tennessee. Walters returns to Spectrum News after beginning her career as a producer at Spectrum News 1 in Kentucky in 2018. She later served as executive producer at KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“My experience at Spectrum News showed me first-hand how local, reliable and community-focused journalism can make a difference,” Walters said in the statement. “Tennesseans can expect coverage that reflects their voices and concerns, connecting them to issues shaping their neighborhoods.”
Corinne Piorkowski has also joined Spectrum News Tennessee as a reporter covering the Knoxville area. Piorkowski is a recent University of Texas at Austin graduate and participated in the Spectrum News Fellowship, a newsroom training program for aspiring journalists.
Spectrum News Tennessee will serve customers with reporters based in communities across the state, with coverage focused on Jackson, Johnson City, Knoxville, Nashville and surrounding areas.
Spectrum said its news networks average 1.9 million daily viewing households across linear and digital platforms. The company has expanded its news operations in recent years with additional local linear networks, Spectrum News+, Spectrum Noticias, its mobile app and connected TV apps for Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV.
Spectrum owns and operates 17 other regional news channels. In some markets, the company has agreements to distribute the channel outside of its customer base.
