KSDK St. Louis picks Steve Savard to replace Mike Bush at anchor desk

Steve Savard will become the main evening anchor at KSDK in St. Louis, Missouri, succeeding Mike Bush following his retirement after 41 years at the station.

Savard will join Anne Allred on the 5 p.m. “5 On Your Side” newscast and Kelly Jackson at 6 and 10 p.m. His first broadcast in the role will be the 10 p.m. newscast Aug. 13, 2026.

Bush will anchor his final newscast at 6 p.m. that day before turning the anchor chair over to Savard.

“It’s both an honor and a great responsibility to succeed Mike,” Savard said in the station’s story on its website. “He has set a high bar for delivering news at KSDK and throughout St. Louis. Mike and the team have been so welcoming; it feels like I’ve been at 5 On Your Side for years. I’ll do my part to carry on the legacy they have built.”

Savard joined KSDK in February as host of “Spotlight on Service,” a weekly segment recognizing military veterans.

Savard’s history in St. Louis, Missouri, stretches back to 1994, when KMOV hired him as a weekend sports anchor. sports director the following year and led the station’s sports department for 19 years before moving to the news desk in 2013. 

In 2020, he was laid off from the station after 26 years as part of a broader round of cuts due to economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

He briefly hosted “Middays with Seve” (sic) on KFNS-AM. He left that April to become lead anchor at KOLR in Springfield, Missouri. In 2025, he departed KOLR and began contributing to KSDK in early 2026. 

He also spent 16 years as the radio play-by-play announcer for the St. Louis Rams before the team left town. His career includes positions at WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut; KULR in Billings, Montana; and KDBC in El Paso, Texas.
