Telemundo-owned KXTX in Dallas, Texas, says its consumer investigative unit has recovered more than $1 million for viewers across North Texas since its launch in 2014.
“Telemundo 39 Responde” works with consumers and businesses to resolve complaints involving fraudulent transactions, scams, unexplained charges, refunds, customer service disputes and other consumer issues.
The unit was launched as part of a broader consumer investigative initiative across Telemundo-owned stations. KXTX was one of seven stations to establish a “Responde” unit in 2014, joining stations in Los Angeles, California; New York, New York; Miami, Florida; Houston, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; and the San Francisco Bay Area.
“This is an incredible milestone and a testament to the impact Telemundo 39 Responde has made in our community over the last 12 years,” said Tony Canales, president and general manager of NBC-owned KXAS and KXTX, in a statement.
The initiative has since expanded through NBCUniversal Local’s Consumer Investigative Center to 33 NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations across 23 U.S. markets and Puerto Rico.
NBCUniversal Local says its NBC-owned stations have recovered more than $61 million for consumers over the past 12 years, while Telemundo-owned stations have recovered nearly $44 million. Collectively, the company’s consumer investigative units have recovered more than $107 million since 2014.
