BBC Sport enhanced its studio setup for the 2024 Paris Olympics by blending real and virtual elements. The studio featured a live backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and a green screen that extended into a virtual Parisian square, offering flexibility for different presentation styles.

From Paris to Salford, BBC’s Olympic studio captures Belle Époque era

The design, created in collaboration with BK Design Projects and Lightwell, utilized Unreal Engine for virtual rendering and integrated BBC’s Vizrt platform for control. The studio design aimed to seamlessly merge real and virtual worlds, overcoming challenges related to precision and performance optimization. The result was a dynamic and immersive environment for Olympic coverage.
