BBC Sport Pres 2

Salford, United Kingdom
BBC Sport

Virtual studio for BBC Sport that debuted in March 2021, located in Media City in Salford.

The virtual set includes multiple presentation positions and levels within a unified architectural space – a studio complex allowing for different programs with a unified brand identity. Includes a disaster recovery studio for BBC Sport News.

The 1+4 seated presentation area is positioned high overlooking the virtual space with a dual aspect able to look in and out. Templates allow easy use of stock photography to change location backgrounds. Bespoke drone shoot of Salford Quays to be used for Sports News.

A horizontal glass and LED display deck wraps around and unifies the space, acting as both a ‘window’ on the world and as a highly versatile, graphic content display for the seated presentation area. Additionally, our proposal offers a complete 360° virtual environment, and reverse camera angles through the introduction of hold-out (garbage) mattes in the space occupied by cameras. Clarity and color form the core of this design with clean, bold lines reflecting the BBC Sport brand allowing program flexibility within a unified environment.

The studio is powered by Vizrt with rendering via the Unreal Engine.
