Veech x Veech redesigned the NTV News studio in Cologne, Germany, as part of the network’s largest studio change in more than a decade. The project moved NTV from a virtual studio to a physical production space.

The 230-square-meter studio serves as a 24-hour news hub connected to NTV’s network of correspondents. The space includes three primary presentation areas designed to support different storytelling formats and camera positions.

The design followed a concept called “Squaring the Frame,” which emphasized straight lines, sharp edges and clearly defined architectural forms. The studio avoids the curved surfaces commonly used in broadcast set design and instead uses a compact, linear layout.

A neutral gray color palette replaced the blue tones often associated with television news. NTV’s red branding provides the main accent color and is also used during breaking news coverage.

The studio features about 70 square meters of high-resolution LED display surfaces. Veech x Veech used its XRT software to simulate camera angles, graphics and presenter movements before construction was completed.

The testing process allowed the design and production teams to evaluate the studio virtually before the LED walls and other physical elements were installed. The finished system includes five robotic cameras, including four mobile units and a camera mounted on an 18-meter ceiling rail.

AI-supported audio systems and voice-recognition teleprompters are also integrated into the production workflow. The automation system coordinates camera movement and other technical functions while the editorial team manages live news coverage.

The studio debuted in May 2026.
