As mentioned earlier on NewscastStudio, KRGV-TV, the Rio Grande Valley ABC affiliate, launched news in HD on 09/09/09. Along with the move to HD came an updated set and graphics package.
The refreshed set, designed by FX Group, features blue duratrans with the stations logo and a repurposed desk to match the new look. It’s unclear who completed this project at this time, but it appears to be an in-house refresh. The interview set was also updated for HD with a new monitor and new textures.
Graphics wise, KRGV-TV went with Giant Octopus’s WISH-TV syndicated graphics package. The package ties in well with the updated set to create a cohesive brand. Before and After pictures after the jump, and for more pictures and information visit the station’s Facebook page.

Thanks for Michael for the tip!

I was just there yesterday. The weather center has been painted gray.
The Weather center has been revamped!
The anchor desk is a hold-over from when KRGV produced a 9:00 newscast for former Fox affiliate XHFOX-17 many years ago. When the FOX newscast was canceled, KRGV re-purposed the set. They had duratrans made for election specials, the Iraq war, etc.
Set is a definate improvement and should have been done 5 years ago. I hope they remodel the weather center next…looks out of place now with all of the vibrant red and blue tones.
