As NBC 5 Chicago Storm Team chief meteorologist Brant Miller prepares to mark his 35th year with WMAQ, his station is releasing a documentary that looks at his career — but with a twist.

In addition to Miller, the doc will also profile Joey Miller, Brant’s son, who is a weather producer at the Chicago station.

“Meet the Millers: Chicago’s First Family of Weather” will premiere May 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. Central Time.

The half‑hour program will also stream simultaneously on the station’s website and app, the NBC Chicago News FAST and NBC Chicago’s. YouTube channel.

The documentary will combine archival footage of Brant’s career with interviews that will showcase the “professional and comedic bond between Brant and Joey,” whom the station notes make up the only father-son meteorologist team in the market.

“More than a series of forecasts, ‘Meet the Millers’ is a story about family, shared passion and a commitment to keeping Chicago families safe,” the station noted in an announcement.

In addition to dad and son, the doc will also include interviews with Allison Rosati, who has helmed the anchor desk next to Brant for the past 35 years. An interview with Pete Sack, another member of the station’s weather team, will also be included.

“I’ve spent 35 years guiding Chicago through everything from blizzards to heat waves, but the moment my son joined me in the NBC 5 Weather Center became one of the proudest in my career,” said Brant Miller in a statement. “This documentary shows the real fun behind the forecast, and the joy of getting to do this job with family. Chicago has trusted me for decades, and now they get to see why Joey still claims he’s the ‘normal’ one.”

“Working with my dad is equal parts chaos, comedy, and genuine pride, and this special captures all of it,” said Joey Miller. “Viewers will finally see what I deal with every day, and why, somehow, I wouldn’t trade it in for anything.”

“Brant and Joey represent the very best of what local news can be: expertise, authenticity, and a genuine connection to the community,” said executive producer and NBCU Local Chicago vice president of creative services Joseph Schiltz. “Meet the Millers captures that rare blend of professionalism and personality that makes their partnership so compelling.”

“Meet the Millers” was produced and edited by multiplatform producer producer Hannah Lindvall and co-produced by senior content producer Blake Dufner.
