Virtual sets get more attention

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Virtual sets have a big presence this year at NAB:

  • Darim Virtual Studio: Offers a trackless model that reduces studio spaces and construction time, compatibility with consumer cameras and mobile production abilities. This includes full 3D control of cameras, free-hand camera and 3D object animation controlled via joystick and pre-rendering options.
  • Tricaster by Newtek: Offers a 3D model with realtime shadow and reflecting rendering and layered virtual sets. This is an out-of-the-box solution that goes beyond just software and also offers options for consumer camera integration.
  • Vizrt: These virtual sets focus on interactivity, whether in 2D or 3D that supports camera movements and studio peripherals.
  • Ultimatte Brainstorm: This is the company behind MSNBC’s Decision 2008 graphics.
