Fox Television Stations has inked an agreement to add Chryon’s Web-based graphics creation tool Axis at “many” of its owned and operated television stations.

It’s not clear yet how many stations will be affected or how many staffers displaced, but it’s all but certain at least some will lose their jobs since Axis is touted as a cost-savings mechanism. A typical station group can see an 8:1 to 10:1 cost-savings advantage, according to Chyron.

Fox had previously announced plans to centralize graphics at it’s Tampa station WTVT-TV. As NewscastStudio saw at NAB, Axis allows stations to create template-based news graphics and also includes an order-management system for hub-model setups.
