We’re a little late in reporting this, but WVIT-TV, the NBC-owned station in Hartford, has made the switch to HD and unveiled a new set and the NBC ArtWorks graphics package found at KNBC-TV. Below are a video tour of the new digs and, after the jump, a clip of the station’s first HD newscast.

The new set and newsroom, which sit side-by-side, featured 14,000-square feet of newsgathering and production space.

The set itself features a wide rear projection screen as its main background. The set appears to be based on the KNBC-TV studio in Los Angeles, which was designed by FX Group.
