CNN has purchased iPad news app Zite for an undisclosed price.
Zite is a personalized news and information magazine that allows users to select specific topics of interest and easily scan, read and share news stories from a wide variety of sources. The app also learns from a user’s behavior and preferences to generate a further personalized experience. The app has been hailed as a clean, elegant and easy-to-customize experience.
“Zite is thrilled about combining forces with CNN to create a world-class news discovery platform,” said Zite CEO Mark Johnson. “In CNN, we have found a partner who shares our vision and passion. Being part of the CNN family gives us the capital to grow Zite’s business and continue to innovate in the space.”
