CBS Sports Network saw a major change this college football season with the launch of its new studio.
The 7,500 square-foot studio is located at Chelsea Piers in New York City and houses multiple presentation areas and the networks control room.
The studio was designed by Jack Morton PDG and had the goal of better using the space and having “more technology visible throughout” to give the network “a more modern look.”
Multiple shows originate daily from the studio, feeding the network with sports content, helping to rank it among industry leaders such as ESPN.
Fabrication and installation of the project was handled by the CBS Scenery Shop, which recently worked on “Anderson Live!” along with the new set for “CBS This Morning.”
The sets design includes layers of monitors, metallic details, color changing areas and oversized ceiling units.
The project includes about 50 new monitors, ranging from 32in to 85in displays.
Broadcast Engineering has posted a detailed overview of the project and the piece and people involved.
