The synergy at NBC continues as Golf Channel prepares to launch “In Play with Jimmy Roberts” from Studio 3B in the GE Building. The set, designed by Clickspring Design, features many large RP screens with metal casings and color changing panels.
The use of the studio will actually be almost identical to “Rock Center,” projecting story lead-ins on the screens with Roberts providing intros.
“At each Olympics for decades, viewers have laughed, cried and been inspired by stories told by Jimmy Roberts. ‘In Play’ will continue in the rich NBC Sports tradition of storytelling, by now turning the lens on compelling stories related to golf,” said Mike McCarley, president of Golf Channel.
The one noticeable difference is the lighting style, using a darker tone on Roberts. Less of the sets color changing panels are turned on, including the floating header elements.
The colors of the show also match the sets look, using a cherry wood with a blue faded pattern. A full gallery of photos is available on the Golf Channel website.
Catch the premiere March 12 on the Golf Channel at 10:30 p.m. ET.
