beIN Sports to rebrand January 1

Many international networks are seeing rebrands this weekend, including CCTV International and beIN Sports, the Doha-based international sports channel owned by Al Jazeera Media Network.

The beIN Sports rebrand includes a unified logo system across its various channels, which air sports like football, rugby, tennis and racing. The move is aimed at positioning the channels better internationally, similar to Sky or Canal’s brand standards.

beIN Sports last saw an update in January 2014, when the channel added an “S” to its name. The current logo dates to the launch of the network in June 2012.

In the United States, beIN Sports has distribution on DirecTV and Dish, among others, covering about 42 million households. Overall, the network continues to see household growth in the U.S., up 38.4% in April 2016 compared to 2015.
