‘CBS Sunday Morning’ merges past with present in new scenic design

“CBS Sunday Morning” will begin its 40th season Sunday with a new take on its iconic set design, the first time it’s been updated since January 28, 1979.

From Jack Morton PDG, the scenic design will connect to the past while providing a multi-level home for anchor Jane Pauley with multiple presentation points.

“The new set is evocative of the one viewers have come to love since the launch of the broadcast,” said Rand Morrison, EP of “CBS Sunday Morning.” “The goal is to enhance the visual experience for our viewers, while not shocking them with dramatic changes. The colors are refreshed, the building materials updated, and we have a bit more flexibility in what we can do in the studio.”

CBS notes additional technology will be added to the space in the coming weeks. The previous set was removed and the new assembled in just a week in preparation for the new season.
