“CBS This Morning” opened the show with its normal “Eye Opener” segment that featured the derailment at the top.
After “Eye Opener,” the broadcast switched to full coverage of the story, including using one of its video walls to show a map of the scene and a 3D animation of the accident.
The animation notably used the condensed, textured typography the network uses rather extensively but did not continue to use the “Amtrak” branding, instead of switching focus to the likely cause of the accident under the name “Speeding into disaster.”
