Pakistani channel celebrates New Year with special on virtual set

Hum News, an Urdu language news channel based in Islamabad, Pakistan, celebrated the new year with a special slate of programming that leveraged an appropriately festive virtual set.

Designed by Faraz Qayyum, the set leverages Ross Video’s Frontier platform with rendering from the Unreal Engine.

The virtual set centered on a large, open space with a glass domed ceiling, through which virtual fireworks were visible.

Side panels included organically shaped openings with a sweeping cityscape visible through diagonal beams, while the center area mimicked a video wall that displayed the network’s topical graphics.

Other accented included floating two floating red ribbons — which would probably be structurally impossible — while another area to the left featured more skyline views wrapped in additional red ribbons and white angled elements.
