LiveU expands support for Sony file-based workflows across its EcoSystem
LiveU has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Sony to support Sony’s file-based workflow solutions within the LiveU EcoSystem.
The company will offer the Sony RXS Connection License, enabling direct file transfer from compatible Sony cameras to Sony’s PWA-RXS solution through supported LiveU field units. The first unit to support this license is LiveU’s LU300S transmission device.
With the license, any supported LiveU unit can connect to a Sony camera, allowing file transmission into existing production environments. This maintains current broadcast workflows while adding cellular bonding and IP-based newsgathering capabilities. The new license complements the LiveU TX1 field transmission unit, introduced in September 2025, which mounts directly on Sony professional cameras and supports bonded file transfer.
Both solutions will be demonstrated at the NAB Show in Las Vegas at LiveU’s booth N1740. The joint solution uses LiveU’s Reliable Transport (LRT) protocol to enable broadcasters to transfer files quickly and reliably from the field to TV stations.
Gideon Gilboa, chief product officer at LiveU, said the expanded collaboration aims to simplify field production and extend the EcoSystem to include file-based workflows. He noted that customers can choose between the dedicated LiveU TX1 unit or adding the license to existing LiveU units to run file-based workflows alongside live production without purchasing new hardware.
Gilboa added that the open EcoSystem supports multiple vendors and formats, allowing news teams to both go live and transfer high-resolution files using the same device. This approach leverages existing LiveU infrastructure to scale deployments, reduce manual file handling, speed delivery from the field, and streamline workflows.
Ryoichi Sakuragi, head of news solution business at Sony Corporation, said newsrooms require speed, reliability and automation. He highlighted the collaboration with LiveU as important for ensuring content captured with Sony cameras moves quickly and securely into production, supporting seamless integration of field acquisition in fast-moving environments.
LiveU will showcase the integrated workflow with Sony at NAB Show in Las Vegas, North Hall booth N1740. Sony will also demonstrate the solution at its booth in Central Hall C8401.
