CNN’s television signal was knocked off the air across several distribution platforms Monday as a broader technical problem affected other channels operated by parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
The outage became noticeable shortly after noon Eastern time, with some viewers encountering scrambled video, pixelated pictures or error messages from television providers. Warner Bros. Discovery channels including HBO were also affected.

At times, what appeared to be part of a commercial appeared across the top of the screen.
CNN acknowledged the disruption in a statement posted at 12:48 p.m. Eastern.
“We are aware of a technical issue across Warner Bros. Discovery that resulted in losing CNN channels for a period of time today,” the network said in a statement. CNN said engineers were working to resolve the problem and apologized to viewers.
CNN returned to the air before 1 p.m. Dana Bash addressed the interruption during “Inside Politics,” telling viewers the network had temporarily lost its signal because of the Warner Bros. Discovery technical problem.
“Welcome back, and we are back,” Bash said. “We’re very sorry for the interruption. We are very happy to be back.”
The cause of the Warner Bros. Discovery outage was not immediately disclosed.
