Sharron Melton has left KIAH in Houston, Texas, after nearly eight years with the CW affiliate.

Melton signed off Sept. 3, 2026, from “Htown Morning News,” reports Mike McGuff

McGuff noted that her goodbye featured a tribute to the station’s chief meteorologist Idolina Peralez, sparking some initial confusion it was Peralez leaving.

In a social media post later Thursday, Melton thanked her colleagues and viewers and indicated another move is ahead.

“After almost 8 years, today I said goodbye to CW39 Houston,” she wrote. “I will truly miss my coworkers and the community I was able to reach each morning and I was so honored to serve.”

Melton added that “better things are coming soon” and encouraged followers to watch for details about her future plans.

She joined KIAH in October 2018 and previously anchored and hosted “Morning Dose,” the station’s former morning news and variety program.

“Morning Dose” was part of KIAH’s return to a more traditional news format following the end of “NewsFix” and the syndicated version of “Morning Dose.”
