ABC News is making changes to the weekend lineup of “Good Morning America,” naming Rachel Scott and Rhiannon Ally as co-anchors while adding Leslie Lopez as weekend meteorologist.
Scott, ABC News’ senior political correspondent, will join Whit Johnson on the Saturday edition beginning Sept. 12, 2026. Ally will team with Gio Benitez on Sundays starting Sept. 13, 2026.
Lopez will provide weather coverage for both weekend broadcasts.
“We know weekend mornings are precious to our audience, and we could not be more excited to have Whit, Rachel, Gio and Rhiannon as our new weekend team, along with Leslie, to help our viewers make the most of their Saturdays and Sundays,” Simone Swink, senior executive producer of the “GMA” franchise, said in a statement.
Lopez replaces Somara Theodore, who has been the weekend meteorologist since 2023. She will move to weekday shifts on the network’s streamer ABC News Live.
Swink said members of the new weekend team are also expected to appear on weekday editions of “GMA.”
Scott and Ally will replace Janai Norman, who was let go from ABC News in April 2026.
Scott began her ABC News career as a production associate in 2016 and will continue serving as the network’s senior political correspondent while taking on the Saturday assignment. She will continue covering the White House, Capitol Hill and other political stories from Washington, D.C., while co-anchoring “GMA” from New York City, New York.
Ally joined ABC News in 2021 and most recently co-anchored “World News Now” and “Good Morning America First Look.” Before joining the network, she worked at KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri; WFOR in Miami, Florida; and WCBS in New York City, New York.
Lopez joined ABC News in April 2026 after working at KABC in Los Angeles, California, where she served as a weekday morning meteorologist.
The four weekend co-anchors will also rotate as anchors of “ABC News Live Weekend,” which airs weekend mornings beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern on the ABC News streaming channel available through Disney+, Hulu and the ABC News app.
