Reporter Payton May is joining CBS-owned WBZ in Boston, Massachusetts, following her departure from Fox-owned KDFW in Dallas, Texas, where she spent two years covering news for the station’s morning broadcasts.

May announced her departure from KDFW in September 2026, delivering an emotional farewell during the station’s “Good Day” morning newscast, notes Mike McGuff. She had been a morning reporter at the Dallas-Fort Worth station since September 2024.

Her move to WBZ marks the latest stop in a broadcasting career that has included reporting assignments in Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan.

Before joining KDFW, May spent three years at KOKH in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she served as a Capitol reporter beginning in August 2021.

The assignment involved covering state government and political developments, providing experience in legislative reporting before her move to the larger Dallas-Fort Worth television market.

Earlier in her career, May worked at Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned WPBN in Traverse City, Michigan, where she held several newsroom positions, including reporter, anchor and producer.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, May graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

While attending Syracuse, she completed internships at WSYR in Syracuse, New York, university-owned radio station WAER-FM and E! News in Los Angeles, California.
