Veteran NBC 5 Chicago WMAQ anchor Allison Rosati has been named to the Chicago Silver Circle Class of 2027 by the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The honor was announced Saturday, Oct. 24, during the 68th Annual Chicago-Midwest Emmy Awards at the Swissotel in downtown Chicago. Rosati will be formally inducted into the Silver Circle in spring 2027.
Established by NATAS, the Silver Circle recognizes television professionals who have made significant contributions to the industry over careers spanning at least 25 years. It is among the organization’s highest honors.
“Allison has been a trusted and beloved presence in Chicago for more than three decades, and this honor is a fitting recognition of the tremendous impact she has made on our viewers, our station and our community,” said Kevin Cross, president and general manager of NBCUniversal Local Chicago, in a statement.
Rosati joined WMAQ in 1990 as an anchor and reporter, initially appearing on “First Thing in the Morning.” She moved to the station’s early evening newscast in 1995 and became co-anchor of the 10 p.m. newscast in 1997. She currently co-anchors NBC 5’s 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts Sunday through Thursday.
Her broadcasting career began in 1985 at KTTC in Rochester, Minnesota, before she moved to WGRZ in Buffalo, New York, where she anchored the station’s 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Throughout her career, Rosati has received numerous journalism and community service honors. Her Emmy-winning “Wednesday’s Child” series helped connect children with adoptive families, while her “Smart Choices, Safe Kids” special earned a national Gracie Award for its coverage of child predators and child safety. She has also received the Dante Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans and a community contribution award from Gilda’s Club Chicago.
In addition to Rosati’s Silver Circle recognition, NBCUniversal Local Chicago’s WMAQ and Telemundo Chicago WSNS collected seven Emmy Awards at Saturday’s ceremony.
The stations’ winning entries included two joint WMAQ-WSNS investigations led by Alfonso Gutiérrez and Kate Chappell, examining a $1.5 million lawsuit and disputed water bills in Sauk Village.
WMAQ was also recognized for its coverage of Operation Midway Blitz, a diversity and inclusion feature featuring Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley, and a promotional spot titled “The Food Guy, Grilled by Kids.”
WSNS received awards for the human-interest report “El Último Abrazo de Kevin” and its promotional campaign marking the 10th anniversary of “Telemundo Chicago Responde.”
The awards recognized the stations’ work during the 2025–26 television season.
