Former WPEC weekend morning anchor Dani Travis has announced a new job as a communications specialist for the City of Fort Worth, Texas, after exiting the West Palm Beach station in September 2026.

Travis announced her new position on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, marking a return to her native North Texas after spending a decade in Florida, reported Chron.

“In college, I set a goal for myself: to become a news anchor,” Travis wrote on social media. “I worked hard, chased that dream, and achieved it just a few years into my career on television.”

In her new role, Travis will work with Fort Worth’s mayor, city council, police and fire departments and other city agencies to communicate information to residents.

“Coming home to North Texas and being closer to family makes this next chapter even more special,” she wrote.

Travis departed WPEC in West Palm Beach following her final newscast on Sept. 19, 2026. She joined the station in October 2022 as a weekday morning reporter and was promoted to weekend morning anchor in December 2024.

During her four years at WPEC, Travis covered breaking news, high-profile trials and political stories. She also reported on coral reef research and Florida’s Lionfish Challenge, drawing on her experience as a master scuba diver.

Travis also launched “Teacher Feature,” a weekly segment recognizing South Florida educators, which she described as one of her proudest accomplishments at the station.

Before joining WPEC, Travis worked as an evening reporter and fill-in anchor at WJHG in Panama City, Florida. She earned five Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists awards during her time there and a sixth while at WPEC.

A 2020 graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in broadcast journalism, Travis began gaining newsroom experience as a news writer at WSVN in Miami while attending college.

In announcing her departure from television news, Travis reflected on accomplishing her goal of becoming an anchor despite college professors who she said had discouraged her from pursuing the profession.
