Veteran central Kentucky television personality Doug High is joining WKYT in Lexington, where he will take on multiple roles across the station’s morning newscasts and lifestyle programming beginning Monday, Nov. 2.

High will serve as co-host and producer of “Everyday Kentucky,” airing weekdays at 9 a.m. alongside India Jones. He will also co-anchor “WKYT Mornings” on CW Lexington at 7 and 8 a.m. with Destiny Quinn.

In addition to his regular morning assignments, High will serve as a fill-in anchor across WKYT’s television stations and streaming newscasts.

“It’s great to welcome Doug to the team,” said Jaime Kawaja, vice president and general manager of WKYT, in a story posted on the station’s site. “Over the years, he’s built up a strong following with viewers across the area. His versatility as an interviewer and anchor made him a natural choice for this role.”

High is a familiar presence to central Kentucky viewers, having spent years working in the local television market, including at a competing station.

High most recently spent 17 years at Lexington’s WTVQ, where he anchored weekend, morning, midday and evening newscasts.

He was released in August following the station’s acquisition by the E.W. Scripps Company, which also owns rival WLEX.

His move to WKYT marks a return to the station after 25 years.
