WRMD, the NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo station serving Tampa, Florida, has hired Mariangeles Muñoz and Trouper Diaz as multimedia journalists for “Noticiero Telemundo 49.”

Muñoz joined the station Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, while Diaz is scheduled to make his debut Monday, Nov. 9, 2026.

Both journalists previously worked for Univision, with Muñoz bringing experience covering the Tampa Bay area and Diaz joining from the company’s Denver, Colorado, operation.

Muñoz has more than a decade of experience in journalism, communications and digital media. Most recently, she worked as a multimedia journalist for Univision in Tampa, covering breaking news, severe weather and other stories affecting Spanish-speaking communities.

Her reporting included coverage of Hurricane Milton and its impact on Florida. She also produced stories for television, digital and social media audiences in the Tampa Bay and Orlando regions.

Before joining Univision, Muñoz spent more than six years with Medcom in Panama, working as a television anchor, reporter and news writer.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and audiovisual production from Universidad Latina de Panamá and a master’s degree in corporate communication and digital marketing from Next International Business School in Madrid, Spain.

Diaz comes to WRMD from Univision Colorado, where he covered breaking news and enterprise stories affecting the state’s Latino communities.

His assignments included coverage of Colombia’s peace process, national politics and major breaking news developments. He also contributed cultural reporting to “Billboard Colombia.”

Diaz earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Universidad EAFIT and completed additional studies in political marketing and campaign strategies at Universidad Externado de Colombia.

“Mariangeles and Trouper bring valuable experience and unique perspectives that will strengthen our newsroom,” said Meredith Veloz, news director for Telemundo 49 Tampa, in a statement.

“Mariangeles has a deep understanding of the Tampa Bay community and the stories that matter the most to our local communities, while Trouper brings extensive experience covering politics and complex issues that impact our audiences. We’re excited to welcome them to our team.”
