BBC Sport created a virtual studio for its UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 coverage that placed presenters inside a contemporary timber pavilion overlooking Lake Lucerne.
The environment was built in Unreal Engine and powered by Vizrt, and the production team operated it from a green screen studio in Salford.
The space featured warm timber beams, large areas of glazing and soft interior lighting, with a surrounding alpine landscape that shifts based on time of day and match scheduling. The virtual set was used for pre-game segments, half-time analysis and post-match coverage throughout the tournament.
The design emphasized a strong sense of place, grounding the coverage in Switzerland while providing the flexibility needed for changing editorial requirements.
